A growing up novel of short stories about one''s life in Commerce City would seem to be quite ordinary, but quite the contrary. This novel of one''s life encompasses bits and pieces about a boy growing up in a suburb of Denver, Colorado. Assimilation, acculturation and the struggle for cultural and physical identity and success are the themes to be presented in these stories. The titles of each chapter represent a paradox, which focuses on my occupation, education. I''m a retired high school teacher at Adams City High School, yes in Commerce City. Education has gone through a lot of reformation since I was a student in Commerce City Schools. So to add a little humor to this book I''ve added examples of pedagogical ideological chapter titles that reflect my profession. Read it for yourself. If you are a teacher you''ll be able to understand it fully and if you were ever a student you''ll be able to understand it completely. Be ready to laugh and cry.
