The book is a romantic story of a Nobel laureate who is from the Argentine but who lives in the U. S. and is a professor of international finance. The story follows the path of the professor who leaves the university and joins a huge hedge fund. His experiences on Wall Street become shocking when he realizes there is impending doom for the world economies due to the magnitude of the hedge funds' financial machinations. The financial meltdown happens despite the professor's constant lamentations and warnings. Some of the events in the novel are true but the names have been changed.
