Written for, and to, his family, the contents of this book are the memoirs of World War II veteran, husband, father, and grandfather, John F. Ireland, chronicling the events of his life. It is a journey compiled of snippets of memories from a childhood of humble beginnings, being drafted into the Army at the edge of adulthood, serving as an infantryman on the front lines during the Second World War, and through his life post-war as he ventured into starting a family, and the experiences during his working years. It is also a map of a journey of faith - a look back on life to see where God had His hand upon him, guiding him, protecting him, and carrying him throughout his "story."
