Dietrich Bonhoeffer is perhaps one of the greatest theologians of the 20th century. Born into a wealthy family it was natural for Dietrich to cut his own unique path in life. He found his way studying theology at the University of Berlin, Germany. His rise to fame came because he spoke out against tyranny and oppression of his brothers and sisters (Jews) who were being persecuted by Hitler's Nazi regime. As a gifted writer, preacher, and leader of people, he developed a private and illegal seminary where he educated his students in the faith of Jesus and secretly taught pacifism. However, the Gestapo would soon put a stop to this educational outpost and shut it down and ban Bonhoeffer from publishing or speaking in the Third Reich. This pushed Bonhoeffer over the edge and he found himself wrapped up in a military conspiracy to abolish Hitler. This book is about his theological training that prepared him in his life of faith, and how he developed a justification of resistance to violent tyranny that was running rampant in Germany through Hitler's Nazi War Machine. This book will focus on two concepts in Bonhoeffer's thought: FAITH and RESISTANCE.
