Here are more true stories including two from the west coast of Scotland, one recalling bullying at an English public school, and others about a favorite dog, baseball, foxes, and a search for the elusive perfect club sandwich. All retain the same self-effacing humor and compassion for the human condition, reflecting a belief that life is made up of a never-ending series of perfect moments. His roots still deep in the Yorkshire city of Leeds in the north of England, John Mercer has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since he bumped up against the Pacific Ocean in 1979. Having given the place a good looking-over, he has finally applied to become a citizen of the USA and, if successful, looks forward to his new status.
