An easily self-administered informal checklist of age-related milestone expectations for practitioner' reference, and parents of newborn babies and infants aged 0-3 yrs. Usable as a handy reference guide, or more formal comparative assessment tool for 'normal' early child development, this first volume of the unique 'Is My Baby OK ?' (IMBO) series of books include listings of 30 commonly visible month-by-month milestones of behavioural development (Expected Milestone Achievements, or EMAs) for babies aged 0-2 years, and thereafter similarly for ages 2-3 years for less-frequently spaced monthly intervals). A formal scoring system and reference 'norm' tables (0-3 ys) are also provided for those wishing to make more detailed quantitative analyses, individual baby achievement charts, comparisons with similar others, group averaging, and so forth. At the request of many parents, the author has also included (after each month's IMBO-EMA item listings), a set of simple yet fun activity suggestions which may be of value in helping parents to facilitate their baby's demonstration of milestone achievement, and subsequent development of the many choice target EMA behaviours they may wish to exercise together.
