Our Winter Garden Nat le Roux

Our Winter Garden is a dystopian political thriller set in the second half of the twenty-first century.  With large parts of the world in catastrophic drought, the European Union has become the dominant power in the Western Hemisphere, dependent on Central America for its food supply.  When the senior EU representative in Guatemala City is assassinated, Alex Westerman, an ambitious late-career diplomat, is sent to replace her temporarily.

Motivated by personal loyalties, the reluctant stand-in begins an unofficial investigation into his predecessor’s activities.  Who killed her, and why? Against a backdrop of radical insurgency, Alex must navigate a cat’s cradle of intrigue, treachery and violent death, as he uncovers a world where political power, personal loyalties and hidden agendas collide.
