Love...
is a force that can change the entire course of one's life
can begin at first sight or take years to cultivate
lifts us to new heights and drive us to depths of despair
exists in warm smiles and moments of pure joy
brings with it both pleasure and pain
is easy to spot and difficult to explain

As I began the process of studying the subject of love, I thought about love and how it so often begins at first sight. I thought about the people I have known and how the entire course of their lives was altered when they fell in love. I thought about how lives are dramatically changed when people fall in love, and I considered how the pleasure and sometimes pain that accompanies love affects the entire landscape of their lives.

Finally, I considered a known fact of life-- that love can exist with many smiles and moments of sheer joy as it lifts men and women to great heights, and conversely, it can drive some people crazy with despair.
