Promise of Wings: a Pegasus Ranch Story Lena Lingemann 1. izdevums

PROMISE OF WINGS is a girl-who-loves-horses story with a twist. Not only does Tam Darby live on a working Quarter Horse ranch, but at Pegasus Ranch, the horses have wings! And as if that weren?t enough, they have mysterious powers that go beyond flying. For Tam, life is a dream come true. To keep the Winged Horses safe, Pegasus Ranch is a fortress of security gates and guards. The seclusion suits Tam just fine. Her best friends are horses; she has no need of human friends. Until she meets a kindred spirit, that is, quirky outcast Mavis Rebow. Tam?s understanding of Winged Horses?as well as people?deepens because of Mavis, and together they stumble into the tumultuous world of boys and Quarter Horse racing. But when Mavis? tragic past returns to haunt her, even the fiercely determined Darbys appear powerless to save her. Tam stands to lose Mavis and more, for an important truth about the horses has the potential to destroy the ranch and shatter her dream life. PROMISE OF WINGS opens when Tam Darby is twelve and closes when she turns fourteen. Along the way, she learns that personal happiness hinges to some degree on the happiness of those you love?be it a boy, a parent, a best friend or a horse.
