Beauty Behind the Scars is an uplifting memoir of one woman's journey through an unexpected breast cancer diagnosis and a guide to help you heal life's deepest wounds. In late 2019, Atlanta schoolteacher and woman of faith Latisia Jones decided to randomly undergo a breast exam, after suddenly losing her oldest sister, and having her mother recently win her second battle with breast cancer. As the threat of COVID-19 swept our world, Latisia heard nothing back from her doctors and went on with regular life managing her classroom, attending church, and dating her boyfriend. But in the hot Georgia summer of 2020 nothing could prepare her to hear that this random exam indeed detected that she had stage 1, triple negative breast cancer - the deadliest form of cancer found in women of color. As we follow along with Latisia's journey from diagnosis to surgery, we get an upfront view to see if her radical decision to believe that God can heal her without chemotherapy will work, and how her diagnoses tested every relationship around her.
