Diggler's Romance (Jackspot Rmx) Fog

Summer has come early. The Fog is literally lifting and willing the summer to come early with this excellent EP for Metroline. Lead track Diggler’s Job is a breezy house number with pimping keys and a beautiful bass bounce. There’s plenty of movement in the percussion and a light touch that just begs for summer to come. Shout Romance is a shade tougher with its up-front kicks and acid-tinged bassline. It has slow burn intensity that is nicely counterbalanced by smooth reverb-soaked vintage synths. The Jackspot Remix of Shout Romance really brings out the funk in those synths, underpinning that with down-the line percussion and skittering hats that give the track a real drive. Rounding things up nicely is In The Right Mood. The track’s bassline is sticky, sweet treacle over which congas and vocal cuts are expertly sprinkled to create a tasty treat. It never gets sickly though… horns are deployed sparingly, and the track has the same cool as a cucumber minimalism that makes this EP pure pleasure on the eardrums.
