Davy Jones
7A Records is proud to release Davy Jones - Music and Memories: The MGM Recordings on CD, celebrating a vibrant and often overlooked chapter of the beloved Monkee's solo career. The package includes a 16-page colour booklet packed with rare photos and detailed liner notes by Joe Marchese. Following his iconic years as one quarter of The Monkees, Davy Jones embarked on a remarkable solo journey, one that revealed new shades of his artistry, charm, and musical curiosity. Music and Memories: The MGM Recordings gathers for the first time on CD Jones's rare and long-out-of-print singles for MGM Records, alongside selections from his starring role as Oblio in the London stage production of Harry Nilsson's The Point. Recorded between 1972 and 1978, these tracks capture Davy at a creative crossroads-fresh from Monkeemania yet eager to prove himself as a versatile performer. Collaborating with producers Tony Scotti and Tommy Oliver, Jones delivered heartfelt interpretations of songs by Gilbert O'Sullivan ("Who Was It?"), Peter Skellern ("You're A Lady"), and Alan O'Day ("Rubberene"), each infused with the warmth and wit that defined his work. His performances from The Point-including "Life Line", and the buoyant duet "Gotta Get Up" with Micky Dolenz, spotlight his theatrical flair. Though brief, Davy's MGM tenure showcased his range as a singer and storyteller, bridging the exuberance of the 1960s with the reflective maturity of the years that followed. Many of the recordings included here were last heard only on a Japan-exclusive compilation in 1981; this newly remastered collection restores them to their rightful place in his discography.
