Radiohead, one of the most popular English alternative rock bands was founded in 1985; they were first named „On A Friday”. The band consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, beats), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboard, other instruments), Ed O‘Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar, synthesizers) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion). Among the earliest influences of Radiohead members‘ were Queen, Elvis Costello, post-punk acts such as Joy Division and Magazine; and significantly 1980s alternative rock bands such as R.E.M., the Pixies, The Smiths and Sonic Youth. By the mid- 1990s, Radiohead began to mention an interest in electronic music. They received 8 awards from 38 nominations (3 Grammy awards out of 14 nominations, One Ivor Novello Award, One MTV Music Video Award, and three „Q Awards”).
