Ever since their debut album, ‘Wolfheart’, came out in 1995, they’ve been known for their outspoken style of gothic metal. Their biggest masterpiece, “Irreligious”, from 1996, seemed unequalled up until now. After some experimental wandering, they have now come full circle, back to their roots. They have easily reached that high level of “Irreligious” with this new CD. After a beautiful intro, the first songs just race by you very loudly and at a very fast pace. Luckily, you can spot a few resting points on this somewhat border line death metal CD. You become aware of this after the first six songs. Starting with “At the Image of Pain”, there seems to be a slight change of direction in the style and the songs are more comparable to the illustrious “Irreligious”. And quality wise, the songs are better too. .
