Barbara Stanwyck is superb as Martha Ivers, a wealthy woman whose past suddenly comes back to haunt her, in this gripping thriller. Eighteen years after she accidentally killed her aunt and covered it up, Martha must face the horrific tragedy once again thanks to the return of a childhood friend (Van Heflin) who may or may not know the truth.
