In the first story, A Fatal Fraud, a waitress asks Tam to investigate a man who is conning her mother out of her life savings. As Tam and Sam look into the case, they find a dead body, a mysterious disappearance, and a dead end. As Tam considers putting down roots, she finds that putting down roots can lead to pushing up flowers. In the second story, The African Queen, Tam becomes the bodyguard for a former high fashion model turned designer. She quickly discovers that the glamorous world of fashion is deceptive, dangerous, and deadly.
