"The Hound of the Baskervilles" is the third of four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which features detective Sherlock Holmes. It was originally serialized in the "Strand" magazine from August 1901 to April 1902. It was mainly set up in Dartmoor, Devon, West England. It told a story of a terrible attempted murder. Inspired by a terrible, evil, hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigated the case. This is the first appearance of Holmes since the apparent death of Holmes in "The Last Question", and the success of "Baskerville Hounds" led to the final revival of the character. This is one of the most famous stories of all time. In 2003, the book was ranked 200th and 128th in the BBC's "Big Read" poll of Britain's "most popular novel". In 1999, the book was rated as one of the best in Sherlock Holmes' novels and was praised by 100 Sherlock scholars.
