Joely thought she had it all and saw her future mapped out in front of her. With Max (Maxine) in her life they only had to get through a couple of years apart while both at university in different parts of the country. But seeing each other most weekends and with the holidays to look forward to, what could possibly go wrong? The dream was, once university was out of the way they would both be living and working in the same town where they would also be sharing a home. But, life took an unexpected turn when Max fell in love with someone else. Somebody that she met at university leaving Joely with a broken heart, and absolutely devastated when she learnt they were to marry. Joely had spent the last five years living a "Silent torment" where she was trying to have a relationship where she felt love for them like she had for Max, but it wasn't working. With another two serious relationships behind her, along with several one-night stands along the way where drinking too much to get over the pain of Max nearly lost her everything, including her mind, she knew she had to get her life back into some kind of order, which she has been slowly doing. When Max reappears in her life again it would be so easy to fall back into her arms and forget the past five years. But, Max is still married, even if it is unhappily. Joely doesn't want to end up getting hurt again and find herself back on the road to self-destruction, but, will she be able to resist the temptation? So, what will happen when she agrees to meet her?
