A question was posed at Jesus by some people. Jesus spoke through a parable. This parable had great in-depth meanings, which the people did not immediately understand but realised later. We can't get new results with old behaviours. Jesus "was warning them that their King had come, and they would not be able to deal with this King unless they got rid of the structures that made it impossible for them to receive Him."
