When Wellesley College liberal arts senior Alexandra Brown receives a registered letter from a law firm in Houston, Texas she is shocked to learn an uncle she barely knew has named her sole beneficiary of his sixty thousand acre cattle ranch. Sensitive, innocent and vulnerable, Alexandra enlists her roommate and best friend Ashleigh Wilmington to accompany her to Texas where they are introduced to the ranch's enigmatic and ruggedly handsome foreman, Shane Colton.
