The importance of the work lies in the fact that it was the first adventure fiction novel set in Africa in English, and is considered to be the genesis of the literary genre about different and unknown worlds. The book was written in the winter of 1882 and its creation took 6 weeks narrated by the same in his memoirs The Days of My Life, by H. Rider Haggard and it was published for the first time in September 1885
