When the manga's creator is maimed in a traumatic accident, she is forced to draw her iconic character using her left hand, but the figure that emerges is no longer the same, no longer a hero. As the mass suicides in her audience give way to mass shootings, she is forced to navigate a hostile, new world that can no longer discriminate between transgressive art and stochastic terrorism. It's a minimalist tragedy.
