This book is a brief history of Alford, Lincolnshire, England. It has served as the market town for surrounding communities since the 13th Century. Three significant, historically important individuals were born, educated or lived in the village of Alford. Captain John Smith, Thomas Paine, and Anne Hutchinson played key roles in the British Colonies in America. This work includes biographical sketches of these three people. In addition, there are descriptions of historic buildings in the town as well as commentaries on historically important figures from the community. Also included are surrounding sites that are worthy of a visit.
