Robert "Boots" Calhoun is a retired detective, with a storied past, who is unexpectedly called back into action when a Spanish diplomat and a wealthy Guatemalan businessman, carry out a daring operation to steal over 2 billion Dollars worth of Guatemalan gold bullion, diamonds and rare jewels, recovered from the sunken Spanish Galleon, El Porvenir, lost in 1567, off Guatemala's Caribbean coast. The treasure, found and recovered by independent treasure hunters, was turned over to Spain and is on loan by the Spanish government to the US. It is being transported from Madrid to a Miami Beach museum, under heavy security, when things take a dramatic, and violent, twist.
