During the Vietnam war, the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong utilized a vast network of underground tunnels to help them conduct successful guerrilla operations against United States and South Vietnamese forces in South Vietnam. In response, the U. S. Army created a group of specially trained men who came to be known as The Tunnel Rats. The most effective Tunnel Rats were men who were small in stature, unafraid of hand-to-hand combat in dark, confined, and hostile spaces, and totally ruthless. This is the fictionalized story of one such man.
