Pumpkin is a street cat who is tired of patrolling the block that he grew up on. He is fed up having to deal with Buster the bulldog who is the leader of the gang of mischievous cats and rats that terrorize the neighborhood. The neighbors love Pumpkin but only for their selfish reasons. They are only concern that he guards the block as they walk their pets and when he stops them from trashing the neighborhood. But, on the other hand, the neighbors know that someday that Pumpkin will have to retire from his volunteer duties and will need a place other than the streets to stay. But yet no one has offered him a place in their homes because they are skeptical about street cats. Most of them on the block are firm believers that "once a street cat always a street cat"; they believed that street cats would never- ever adapt to becoming domesticated. Pumpkin, on the other hand, realizes that this notion could be a major hurdle in finding a home off the streets. Pumpkin also knows that he must retire from the bloc because fighting this gang of bullies alone is too much for one cat to handle. So Pumpkin dreams about finding a new home and tells Ollie the all-knowing hummingbird about his dream. Ollie puts the plan in motion by using an invention of his magical solutions and nectar juice to create a crystalize plan for his friend. In the meantime, before the dream can come true, Pumpkin must face some fears and go through some adventures.
