In his book "More Than All the Steps" Nick invited me to hike with him on the Camino de Santiago. I laughed out loud. I wept. I met his companions. I learned how deeply he loves his wife. I cringed when he put his foot in his mouth. I pictured the strangers he befriended and others who added color and drama to the trek. (I think my feet hurt.) And I felt exhilaration, relief, and triumph when he and his friends reached the end of the Camino. This book is about more than all the steps because it shows us that the Camino experience transforms those who take the first step with the goal of finding something or Someone bigger than themselves. If you're considering embarking on a journey-whether it ends at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, or in your own backyard-you should be prepared to change.
