Powers that are all knowing and all powerful. Powers that choose not to be accountable to anyone. In this story Aye gets to an unexpected dead end and has to make amends. Aye fell terribly ill. The antidote prescribed by the medicine man is one that requires using materials that Aye had abused and squandered in his time of affluence. Aye's health and survival depends on the benevolence of those he has hurt in the past. Do not bite the fingers that feed you. Do not kill the goose that lays the golden egg. How often we hear these admonitions and how often we forget them! If one good turn deserves another, does one bad turn deserve another?This story is about the earth and echoes our responsibility to care and protect the earth and conserve resources. While living in denial has been embraced as a survival mechanism for some, the evidence is all around us and the need to raise the next generation with the urgency of these truths so they are less likely to fall into the errors of "aye-cious denialists" is a priority.
