God is our mighty fortress, always ready to help in times of trouble. And so, we won't be afraid! Let the earth tremble and the mountains tumble into the deepest sea. Our God says, "Calm down, and learn that I am God! All nations on earth will honor me." The Lord All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress. Here the word fortress describes a strong castle and a refuge where the enemy cannot enter. Ancient cities had fortified walls, castles and fortresses, many of the wars were fought by invading, and many times the invader lost because the walls were impenetrable. In God we are safe, the bible says: For he will hide me in his tabernacle in the day of evil; He will hide me in the secrecy of his dwelling; On a rock set me high. Psalms 27: 5 NIV. When Hezekiah heard the messenger of the enemy, when the king saw that the enemy armies were camping to destroy Judah, he was troubled, and then he consulted the prophet Isaiah, and received word and assurance from our God. When we see the problems and difficulties come to us, when we feel fear and believe that this crisis is going to destroy us, we will remember that in God we are safe, because in him is our strength.
