You might know somebody like Claire Howard, a pretty, intelligent, conscientious young woman who is dependent on her parents for childcare. Bullied at work she struggles to survive. Her best friend wants to be become her partner. The long estranged biological father of her child reaches out to her with the intention of getting to know his son. Her biggest problem should have been deciding whether or not she trusts him enough to allow him back into their lives, but it is not. Claire's most pressing challenge is coping with her mean minded, micro managing boss, who is determined to side line her. Worry about the adversarial relationships in the office seeps over into her private home life, sucking the fun out of everyday activities. Claire wants to stay and fight for a job she values, in an organisation she is emotionally attached to. She slowly realises that it is an unequal fight, with her bully of a boss being supported by senior management. Claire has enough money to get by on a day to day basis but not enough spare cash to risk paying legal fees on an action she may or may not win.
