This is a book of poems about true experiences in the remote wilderness of northwestern British Columbia. It is written for kids who love to be out in nature to experience the magic and mystery of animal and bird life, of crazy weather, wild plants, lakes and rivers and the wolf who stole Ronnie's pack who can now wear sunglasses and smoke a cigar. Or the courageous young swan who came and landed at the lake the night before it froze over, making him captive. How did he get free? Or the mother duck who outwitted the eagle and kept her many ducklings safe, doing what they do best. The birds and animals, the wild moods of nature, grizzly bears and wolverine all share the experience with the few humans that spend time there. What made the wrens so sad that they left for good? What did the eagle drop that was still alive? Even if they aren't biting, what are the bugs doing on my arm? And how do we make them leave? This book of poems talks of real experiences in a remote wild landscape that is full of beauty and humor, extreme weather, rare wildlife, such as wolverine and jumping mice or the wild birds and insects that live there and others that blow in on strong winds from distant places, such as the moth from Hawaii. There is no ending to the depth and humor and beauty of nature. This is the first of a series of poems and stories that will be for children and others that will be for adults.
