Irish political historian, Christopher McInally, explores the various social and political impacts of the 1981 Hunger Strike in From Bloody Sunday to Bobby Sands. He looks not only at the impacts experienced in the North of Ireland but Britain, Europe, the United States, and the rest of the world as well. McInally's is an ambitious work, attempting to present a truly comprehensive historical examination of one of Ireland's (and the world's) most significant socio-political events. Indeed, many historians view the 1981 Hunger Strike as a turning point in the three-decade-long conflict known to us as 'the Troubles'. As does Dr. McInally.
