It's a book for the family, really, a getting down the stories and the decision points that made a life. It was birthed at a funeral; a friend had died and though his family and friends spoke their pieces about the man, it wasn't good enough. The man, after all his years of living, deserved more. I'd want more. So I set out to write out my own account. But of course there was too much, enough that would keep a memorial service stretching into days, if not weeks. So, that will never happen. And I'll have to leave it to the planners to keep remarks short, whether meaningful or humorous, hopefully representational. But, no matter, because the full volume will exist, for any who wonder or care. And that's how this work has become something for family mainly. If there's curiosity, here it is. For me, it's been a look in the rear view mirror, always an important part of driving. Where where we're heading is all about plans and hope; where we've been in truth.
