America 2020-A Nation in Turmoil- is a collection of observations on the US State of the Union in 2020. As I have written elsewhere, there is a critical need for the American people to interact with each other in a civil and civic fashion. There simply must be a return to the ideals embodied in the US Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. As Norbert Wiener once remarked, "In a very real sense, we are shipwrecked passengers on a doomed planet. Yet, even in a shipwreck, human decencies and human values do not necessarily vanish, and we must make the most of them. We shall go down, but let it be in a manner to which we may look forward as worthy of our dignity."
