Cleopas and the Road to Emmaus is the story of the man who encountered Jesus on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:13-32. Luke refers to him as Jesus' disciple but his companion on the road is unnamed. Cleopas was the husband of Mary who was present at the burial of Jesus and heard the angelic announcement of Jesus' resurrection at the empty tomb. The author suggests that the other unnamed disciple is in fact Mary, the wife of Cleopas. Tradition and some early historical writings name Cleopas as the brother of Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary. The book follows Cleopas from the time of Jesus' birth to his resurrection. It is written as Cleopas testimony to his grandchildren around the year 53 AD. Holy Week is the focus of the majority of the book. The author attempts to harmonize the events of the week from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday. Follow in the footsteps of Cleopas as the author gives you a bird's eye view of some of the most dramatic moments the world has known.
