For some people, the sole purpose of their lives is the pursuit of money, for others it's the pursuit of passion. And there are those, who become slaves to their tormentors, for reasons beyond their control. Erika Kuti is an innocent, breathtakingly beautiful young country girl, who decides to try her luck in the big city, during the 1970s Communist Hungary. She falls in love with Robert Nadory, the aging Concert Pianist, who finds it difficult to function in society. He falls for a girl of his dreams, hoping that she will become his muse and inspire him to return to creativity. They embark on a passionate love affair, lasting for more then a decade. The author also gives an insight into what life was like in Hungary prior to the collapse of Communism, with remarkable mockery and ridicule.
