For the Love of Davis is the reflective story of author Kelly Ladner and his firstborn Davis on their journey through the first eighteen years of Davis's life. From birth to graduation, this memoir tells of a father's uncertainty and fear of failure as a "daddy." This coupled with Ladner's desire to do the best he could in raising his children left much to be mentally and emotionally reconciled as the day approached for Davis to leave home. Both being natural-born outdoorsmen, spending time together in God's creation came easy and many of life's lessons were learned along the way. During this time, Ladner tried to expose Davis to as much of the natural world as possible while teaching him to understand the depth of what has been created, the blessing of having a passion for it, and the importance of having a clear and solid reverence for the One that created everything. Interspersed throughout the narrative is relevant scripture, ecology, biology, history, and a recognition that it takes a village to raise a child. For the Love of Davis is a challenging and personal story that reminds us to always be aware of and wise with one of the greatest and most fleeting elements of life-time.
