13 year old Jenny Smithson knows she should be happy and content with her simple life in a small midwestern town run by well-meaning AI. Somehow she just can't seem to settle, though. She's different from those around her, but doesn't understand why. She tries to go along with things, and not cause any trouble. Trouble still finds her, though, in the form of her two favourite television cartoon characters. Jenny is watching their show one weekday morning when they speak directly to her. It turns out they need her help. What follows is an adventure unlike any other, through the Authority governed towns and the wildlands between them, into virtual reality, and finally to the very boundaries of Jenny's known world.
