After Being sentenced to 35 years for my part in a murder many questions would come up in my mind about what led me to commit the crimes I did, choose the life I once lived. While serving over 20 years and counting driven by the need to be redeemed, I worked to dig at the root of all my personal failures in order to learn from them and grow into a morally competent human being. I would gradually discover that only when I could clearly recognize the hurt, anger, fear, and resentment that I carried with me from my childhood I could identify with the pain and suffering I caused others. In this book, I attempt to unpack the different stages of my redemption from my defining moment to my atonement. I have long ago committed myself to gaining knowledge of the different influences and conditions that leads one to devalue another, which results in a vicious cycle of victimization. Through this desire for self education and reflection to change or reprogram my thinking I believe I gained some insight that can help others who have been subjected to similar influences and conditioning. This book is the beginning to what I hope can become a part of a larger conversation and provide some insight from my experience as a person convicted and guilty of a grievous crime against a human soul. The main questions I attempt to answer are; What circumstances and components will lead someone to commit such an act as murder on another human being? How does one come to terms with that and work towards reform? What are the necessary components material, spiritual, emotional, and moral for such a transformation to be possible?
