My protagonist is a retired professor J and this story is about his restlessness after he retired. He overcomes his meaningless existence and helps a destitute family through community effort . When it is done, he relapses back to being old like everyone but satisfied that he has preserved soul as a true human. I have often seen in our Indian society that people who have lived a dignified life, giving love, respect and affection to everyone, no matter who approach them seeking help, are no body once they retire. People neglect them, their own colleagues forget them, even their own family members treat them as men of no more consequence. Their lives are reduced to being nothing despite their good nature. This pains me. Akira Kurusawa and Yasujiro Ozu have depicted the vanishing values in the Japanese society. Their works have inspired me to write this story about good human beings and how they try to be useful to others until their last breath.
