En route home after the summer trading season, Hynarkin trader Marrek Lytsun stumbled upon an infant beneath a bush. Hafrin, so named by Marrek, grows up caught between two worlds; his own people, the Fimiahri, and the Hynarkin, Marrek's tribe. But there's much more to Marrek and his people than any Fimiahri is aware, and the battle the Hynarkin are fighting is spilling outward to encompass and threaten the very existence of everyone on their world. Caught in the middle of the rising tide of dissention and war, Hafrin must come to terms, not only with his heritage, but with an enemy far more insidious and dangerous than the usurper, Jikpryn.
