The Coupled Recovery Model connects concepts and tools from other models in the field that focus on Problematic Sexual Behaviors (including Sex/Love Addictions), Betrayal Trauma, Sexual Health, and Relational Connection. It includes information from IITAP, APSATS, AASECT, SASH, and AASAT, adding relational components through an Emotionally-Focused Therapy lens. This book contains all handouts, diagrams, and worksheets connected to the Coupled Recovery Model, with the exception of a few used for the disclosure process, which can be found in the Coupled Recovery Exercises Booklet.

The Coupled Recovery Model uses gender-neutral pronouns and relationally-neutral language to help individuals of all genders and relational status connect to the material, meaning these tools apply not only to male betrayers and female betrayed partners, but female betrayers, male betrayed partners, and LGBTQ+ individuals and relationships. Additionally, the term "betrayer" or "escaper" is used instead of "addict" so the material can connect to those dealing with individual infidelities as well as those struggling with patterns of compulsive sexual or romantic behaviors. This material includes tools for both betrayers and betrayed partners, creating a common language, considering attachment wounds, and increasing the possibility of emotionally-safe connection throughout the recovery process without minimizing the partner's pain. The Coupled Recovery Model divides recovery from betrayal into three phases. Early recovery focuses on emotional safety and truth. Middle recovery adds traditional couples work through a betrayal-sensitive lens and helps builds connection and develop empathy. Late recovery centers on healing sexuality, addressing the deepest wounds for both partners and betrayers.

Please note - this book only includes diagrams, handouts, and worksheets. The material is explained in more detail in the books in the Recovering Connection Series (coming soon).
