The book, 'Women in the 21st Century' consists of 23 papers. Most of the papers have attempted to sketch the progress achieved by women throughout India from the economic point of view in the short span of few decades is quite impressive. The structural transformation of the our economy gets manifested through increasing diversification of the work force, emergence of modern farm and non-farm activities, rapid urbanization, development of transformation and information technology, spread of education and gradual integration with the regional and national economy. The share of the secondary and tertiary sector has gone up, while that of primary sector has decreased during the same period. It has become possible because of some contribution of women. Women are an integral part in every society .
