This novel is one of the cornerstones of modern horror that perfectly illustrates the style of Gothic novels. The story revolves around Abbot Ambrosio, a supposedly virtuous man who is actually given over to lust. Sharp and terrible at the same time, El monje has not lost an iota of that force that fascinated the public since its first publication.
