The Bible tells us clearly that God loves us, that he is Love itself. He is the Good Shepherd who goes out in search of the lost sheep. He is the friend who gives his life for his friends. He is the Lord who forgives seventy times seven. He is even the servant who bends over to wash our feet. God is marvelous and he is merciful, and yet we often doubt his love. We doubt because we are prone to evil; because we remember the many times we promised ourselves we wouldn't sin again - only to fall into the same errors over and over. We doubt because we look in the mirror and find there so little to love. We think, "Yes, I know God love me... but he has to... it is what God does. He cannot not love. If given the chance, however...
