A number of nations have invested in research on biogas digesters, ranging from devices which can be used by a single household to industrial-scale equipment which could be used to generate large amounts of power. The Biogas Technology offers an efficient way of biomass utilization. It involves anaerobic fermentation of organic materials such as animal dung, agricultural wastes, aquatic weeds etc. to produce methane rich fuel gas and a value added organic fertilizer. The impact of industrial waste on the environment is a major concern and there is need for higher standards for waste minimization ranging from good operating practices to modification of the production process. The goal of the project is to promote adoption of technologies and ?best practice? techniques for environmental benefits amongst industrial units.
