Homelessness has been a growing social issue in the United States. This book takes an in-depth look at the individuals who face homelessness, and their difficulty in obtaining basic resources of everyday life. Self-esteem, stress levels, and social participation are discussed. Specifically, leisure as an occupation, was examined in the homeless population. A multiple series leisure workshop was conducted at a homeless shelter to determine the therapeutic benefits of leisure occupations in homeless populations. Results and recommendations for future involvement with promoting leisure engagement with persons experiencing homelessness are discussed.
