Rapid growth of high performance materials which are difficult to machine and the products with complex shapes necessitate the development of non-traditional machining process like Abrasive Water Jet(AWJ), since conventional machining of such materials are not technically/economically feasible. In AWJ material removal occurs due to erosion caused by the impact of high velocity abrasive particles entrained in waterjet. To enhance the cutting capability of AWJ, Abrasive Water Suspension Jet (AWSJ) is developed in which the machining is achieved by high velocity suspension jet of polymerized water and abrasives. To derive the potential benefits of this technology in machining wide range of materials and to enhance the field of application, there is a need to optimize the process settings which will reduce machining cost. This book provides information on experimental study of the combined effect of process parameters on the machining performance of AWSJ using new Zycoprint polymer for suspension preparation and parameter optimization using Taguchi designs. This book should be useful to waterjet professionals, researchers and academia who are interested in conducting experimental work.
