Tulu Syntax Screening Test-TSST, a screening test to assess syntactic abilities in Tulu speaking children between the age of 3;0 and 7;0 years. It evaluates comprehension and expressive skills in syntax. TSST discriminates the performance of normal children of different age groups and also categorizes their performance as above average, average, below average and poor. Fourteen grammatical categories are assessed in the test. The test-retest and inter-tester reliability of the TSST were established and were found to be significantly high. The test also has demonstrated content validity. It is recommended that similar tests in other Indian languages should continue to be developed and used.
