In the book the intent is to explain utilization of Semantic Web for the enhancement for Web advertising and Software engineering. It spans around two areas: 1) It proposes a conceptual model that utilizes the concept of pragmatic patterns and semantic web for targeted advertising of products. It acts as a broker providing a web service that maximizes precision of advertising by using contextual elements like the community of use, its objectives,communicative interactions etc. In particular, it mediates in meaning negotiation between sellers and prospective buyers by putting ontologies in context using pragmatic patterns matching which results in efficient searching. It then becomes possible to better deal with partial, contradicting, and evolving ontologies. 2) It develops an architecture which can provide an environment for ontology mapping, knowledge update and semantic search so that Software engineering activities such as domain modeling, code generation or project audit can be improved.
